Sunday April 15- Red Bull Prevails in the Rain, 3-0
New York Red Bull (1-1-0, 4 points) and FC Dallas (1-1-1, 4 points) met on Sunday in heavy rains at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, but the Red Bull fans who braved the rain to see the match were rewarded, as their team won 3-0 in their first home match of the season. In the 18th minute, Josmer Altidore scored for Red Bull to make it 1-0. Clint Mathis of New York scored 16 minutes later to make it 2-0. The score at halftime was 2-0, New York Red Bull. In stoppage time of the second half, Dave van den Bergh scored to make it 3-0, Red Bull, and that was how it stayed. New York goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus left the game at halftime because of an illness. Dave Wagenfuhr, an FC Dallas defender, came out of the game in the 18th minute after he was hit in the head with a shot by Clint Mathis of Red Bull, who had an assist in the game to go along with his first half goal.
